Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – A Tarrant County Judge has has denied a trial for a Texas woman who was sentenced to five years for illegal voting.
The same judge who originally sentenced 41-year old Crystal Mason for casting an illegal ballot while being a felon under supervision denied the motion, according to the Star-Telegram.
Mason, of Rendon, says that she was unaware she could not vote, and would not have put her freedom in jeopardy.
In Texas, a felon cannot register to vote until the end of supervised probation.
Mason’s initial conviction was for conspiracy to defraud the government in 2012.
