Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – As the Southern Baptist Convention begins Tuesday a well respected leader of the denomination’s conservative side has decided he should not be the one delivering the keynote address. Paige Patterson also resigned as chairman of the Evangelism Task Force for the good of the body, and has been fired from his position as President of the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. All for his apparent mishandling of complaints by some female students that they had been raped while attending the school. The convention’s leaders say they clearly have some serious issues they must address.
