Texas Department of Public Safety Urging Residents to Use “Get in Line Online” Service

GRAND PRAIRIE  (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Texas Department of Public Safety is encouraging North Texans to use their “Get In Line Online” service for drivers license issues.

A new drivers license center in Grand Prairie opened Monday at 701 Bahgdad Road and it’s among four mega-centers with the technology to allow users to set their appointments ahead of time.

DPS Spokesman Lonny Haschel said now the centers can provide faster more efficient service.

“You don’t have to show up at the office until your actual appointment time,” he said.

Haschel wanted to try out the service for himself .

“It told me my wait time was 90 minutes. So, I was able to do whatever I needed to for those 90 minutes and it sends you updated text messages. So, my actual time from the parking lot to get in, get in line and get my renewal done was actually seven minutes,” he said.

Most drivers license centers are going to be busy but the DPS said at least residents have an option to make the wait times a little easier.

You can log into to set your appointment here.
