DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – Dallas County Health and Human Services is encouraging parents to get their kids vaccinated now…months ahead of the next school year.
Christopher Perkins is with the county and said people need to understand how important vaccines have been throughout American history.
“Programs of population-wide vaccination resulted in the eradication of small pox in the world, the elimination of polio in the Americas, control of measles, tetanus and diphtheria in other parts of the world,” he said.
Schools in neighboring counties like Tarrant and Ellis dealt with cases of Whooping Cough and the Measles during the last school year.
Many medical experts said the outbreak was the result in part of lack of vaccination.
“This fall don’t let your child’s seat or desk be empty. Get your children the vaccinations they need now,” he said.
One of the biggest issues in Dallas schools last year was the flu.
