Police officer shoots car burglary suspect

Grand Prairie (WBAP/KLIF) – A Grand Prairie Police officer was attacked early Sunday morning by a suspected car burglar. The officer was called to the Sunridge Apartments about 4:00 AM, and reportedly caught a suspect in the act of burglarizing a vehicle. That suspect, 26 year old Gary Rogers attacked the officer in what Grand Prairie Police describe as a “significant physical altercation.” Rogers shook off a Taser jolt, and was trying to take the officer’s pistol when he was shot in an arm and a leg during the struggle. Rogers is now hospitalized, and under arrest on a variety of charges. The grand prairie officer was also taken to a hospital, treated, and released.
