An execution date has been set for another of the Texas Seven cop killers

Houston (WBAP/KLIF) – An execution date has been set for another of the so-called “Texas Seven” prison escapees. 46 year old Joseph Garcia is scheduled to be put to death August 30. He was already serving 50 years for murder when he and six other inmates escaped from the Connally Unit prison south of San Antonio in late 2000. They killed a police officer while robbing an Irving sporting goods store that Christmas Eve. They were found a month later posing as a religious group, living in a Colorado RV park. Garcia will be the fourth member of the Texas Seven to be executed. One of them killed himself. The remaining two, one from Dallas County, one from Tarrant County, remain on death row.
