AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF) – Be prepared to pay more at the pump this Memorial Day weekend. Daniel Armbruster with AAA Texas says the state wide average gas price increased $0.06 from last week and is now $2.76 for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel. A $0.20 difference from the nation wide average of $2.96 per gallon.
Armbruster has some advice that can help drivers take care of their vehicles and get better gas mileage.
“Make sure you avoid those quick starts and stops and then also make sure that your tires are properly inflated. Under inflated tires are not only dangerous on the road way, but they take away from your fuel economy as well,” Armbruster said.
This will likely be the most expensive Memorial Day Weekend at the pump in four years with the average Texas gas price increasing by about $0.60 from last year. However, these prices are not expected to keep travelers off the road. Automobile travel is expected to increase for the fourth straight year in a row.
