City of Dallas Approves Deal to Pay for Crossing Guards

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The City of Dallas will pay the bill for crossing guards at schools.

Dallas County Schools previously provided the crossings guards, but the transportation service is being abolished. The City Council approved a three year $15 million deal to pay for the guards, Wednesday. City Councilman Tennell Atkins said it is worth the money.

“Every kid in the City of Dallas deserves to be safe,” Atkins said.

Schools in designated low traffic areas will be given volunteer crossing guards and paid guards will be put at schools in busy areas with four or two lane crossings.
