ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF) – The Arlington Police Department is investigating the alleged attempted kidnapping of a 9-year-old girl.
Officers responded to the reported attempted kidnapping in the 5200 block of Glen Meadow Drive on Tuesday afternoon. According to Police, the girl who attends R.F. Patterson Elementary School in Kennedale, had just been dropped off at a bus stop when she began to walk toward her home. She reported that a man wearing dark clothing made some comments to her and then walked up from behind and grabbed her. The child was able to break free and ran home.
“The girl told her parents that the same man approached her the day before but she ignored him,” said Arlington Police Lt. Chris Cook. “But, we don’t believe that the girl knew him.”
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 30-years of age, 5’8” to 5’10” tall and weighing 160-170 pounds.
The department says it is pursuing active leads and canvassing the neighborhood for clues. The victim will be working with a composite sketch artist this afternoon. Once a composite sketch is completed, the department will release the image on social media platforms. Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Police.
