Lupe Valdez Wins The Primary Runoff For Texas Governor

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) Dallas – Democratic Candidate for governor Lupe Valdez has won the 2018 Texas Primary run-off election and will take on Governor Greg Abbott in November.

Valdez made headlines when she gave up the job of Dallas County Sheriff to enter the race for Governor.

Valdez defeated Andrew White, the son of former Texas governor Mark White. During the March 6th primary, none of the four candidates received more than 50% of the vote.

In the race for Dallas County Commissioner Precinct 2, Dallas attorney JJ Koch beat former judge Vic Cunningham by just a handful of votes. Cunningham made headlines when he admitted to including a stipulation in a trust set up for his kids, what would award money if they married a straight white Christian person
