Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – A Virginia gun store owner has helped many a Texas get a concealed carry license.
WFAA-TV talked to Robert Marcus, owner of Bob’s gun store in Norfolk, Virginia who has taken advantage of a state law that allows people from other states to take an online class, pay a $100 dollar fee and, after a background check, get what’s called a ‘non-resident’ carry license.
Marcus created the first ever online firearms training course, meaning folks don’t have to show that they can load or fire a gun — two vital proponents of Texas’ concealed carry laws.
The practice has been dubbed the Virginia loophole’ which has Texas Representative Nicole Collier of Fort Worth calling on her fellow lawmakers to take a look.
“There could be several unqualified individuals to carry in Texas that have their Virginia license,” says Collier.”
To get a concealed carry license in Texas, state law requires at least four hours of classroom instruction to include loading and shooting at a gun range.
VIrginia issues licences good for over 20 states.
