North Texas Students Speak on Gun Violence

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – North Texas students are speaking out against gun violence while the National Rifle Association is in Dallas for its annual convention.

Students are using the association’s presence as a platform to speak about the dangers of guns. Cindy Mora is a freshman at Skyline High School and told a group of elected officials at a student run forum Thursday that the dangers she faces as a student didn’t sink in until her school went on lock-down last month.

“It was at that second that the entirety of this situation seemed to click,” said Mora. “And it was in that same second that I became infuriated with the state of our country.”
Mora and her fellow students said they aren’t protesting the N.R.A. but simply would like their voices heard. A student-led rally organized by studentsmarch.org is planned for Saturday in Dallas.
