Dallas Police Association Joins with Fraternal Order of Police

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas Police Association will join the Fraternal Order of Police after getting approval from the state and national governing bodies.

Association President Mike Mata says this is something they have been working toward for quite some time.

“This has been in a process for over five years,” said Mata. “It’s a great thing for not just the City of Dallas but the State of Texas.”

Mata says nothing changes with the governance of the organization.

The Assist the Officer Foundation within the association will not change and people are continually encouraged to donate.

“The DPA is actually not going to change in any shape or form as far as locally,” Mata said.

The new Fraternal Order of Police Lodge number is 716. The merger takes effect June 8, 2018.
