Coppell (WBAP/KLIF) – It’s costing you a lot more lately to fill up your gas tank. According to AAA Texas, the statewide gas price average in Texas is now $2.58 for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel. That price is six cents more than last week and is 34 cents more per gallon compared to this day last year. The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.79, which is five cents more than this day last week and 39 cents more than the price per gallon at this same time last year. So, why are prices going up? Consumer gas demand it at the highest levels ever on record for the month of April. The average price for regular unleaded in Dallas is 2.65 a gallon and it’s 2.64 a gallon in Fort Worth.
