IRVING (WBAP/KLIF) – Progress is being made on Irving’s long awaited convention center headquarter hotel. A topping out ceremony was held Thursday and city officials say the hotel will open by the end of the year.
The $110 million Westin property sits in the middle of the city’s new entertainment district. With 350 guest rooms and 16,000 square feet of meeting space, the hotel is designed to complement the Convention Center as well as the adjacent Toyota Music Factory with its Live Nation amphitheater, and collection of dining and entertainment venues including the recently opened Big Beat Dallas.
“Really at this point every time you drive out here you’re going to see a new level of completion because it’s just moving that quickly,” said Irving Convention and Visitors Bureau, Executive Director, Maura Gast.
City leaders said Thursday that the hotel is the final piece in Irving’s vision for a walkable visitor district.
