Lubbock (WBAP/KLIF) – A Lubbock man who pulled a pistol on a 7-Eleven clerk was injured when the clerk threw him through the store’s front window.
According to Lubbock Police Treshun Bates became irate when the clerk twice refused to sell him cigarettes because Bates couldn’t, or wouldn’t, show him identification proving he was at least 18 years old. Bates is actually 21.
After the second refusal he reportedly raised his jacket, showing a pistol tucked into his pants, and told the clerk “I can get whatever I want.”
As the clerk was pushing bates out the front door, Bates pulled his handgun, and the two began struggling.
At some point during the struggle Bates tried to strike the clerk with his pistol. The clerk picked Bates up, and threw him through the front window; ironically back into the store. Bates was severely cut by the broken glass, and ran off to a nearby apartment complex where police arrested him. They took him to a local hospital for treatment of his cuts. He is now in the Lubbock County Detention Center charged with aggravated robbery.
