Latest gas evacuees go home

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – The northwest Dallas residents who were evacuated from their homes Wednesday night because of a strong natural gas odor in their neighborhood have been allowed to return. The affected neighborhood is a few blocks from the house on Espanola Drive that exploded February 23, killing a 12 year old girl. In the two days after that blast Atmos Energy crews discovered at least 28 gas leaks in the area, and Atmos has been working to replace the neighborhood’s old, natural gas lines. A preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board says Atmos had been aware of gas leaks in the neighborhood since January 1.
