Austin Police Say Bombing Suspect’s Roommate Named “Person of Interest”

AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF News) – As the investigation into the bombings in Austin continues, new information has been revealed about what those close the suspect may have known and when.

The suspect, Mark Conditt, shared a home in Plugerville with two others.

House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Congressman Michael McCaul, said his roommate is now being looked as a “person of interest in the case”. McCall explained why in an interview on Fox News.

“We know that he made them at the home. He had bomb making materials. So, if he had knowledge of this he had a duty to report that,” he said.

McCaul said although Conditt left a 25-minute cell phone video detailing his actions, the reason for the bombings remains elusive.

“He expressed no remorse for what he had done and then he was considering ending this whole nightmare it by blowing himself up in a McDonald’s,” he said.

McCaul said investigators are still combing through digital data to figure out Conditt’s motive.

Police believe he’s responsible for a series of bombings in Austin this month that killed two people and severely injured four. There was also a package bomb that detonated at a FedEx in Schertz.

Conditt blew himself up in a car last Wednesday as local and federal authorities closed in on him outside a hotel in Round Rock, just north of Austin.

His family said that they were shocked by Mark’s alleged involvement in the bombings and they had no idea about his state of mind.
