Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – It’s slim pickings for first-time homebuyers in Dallas according to a new report by the real estate oine site Trulia.
The Dallas housning market is soaring overall, but the report shows that there are only 1,000 starter homes listed for sale with local real estate agents; that number amounts to about 8-percent of available homes under 150-thousand dollars, which is considered to be the average price for a starter home.
Nationally, about 21-percent of houses on the market are priced for first-time buyers.
According to Trulia:
Price versus location: It’s always the big trade-off when searching for the right house. You don’t want to tie yourself to a mortgage you can barely afford, but you don’t want commit to a cheaper location you don’t love, either. Fret no longer. There are affordable homes for sale in or near some of the hottest real estate markets in the country right now.
Among those markets are Austin, Fort Worth, San Antonio and El Paso.
