Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – An old Fort Worth building that was considered a high rise when it was built in 1951 was imploded Sunday morning. 300 pounds of carefully placed dynamite brought down the 17 thousand ton Westchester Plaza building. As the charges went off the building sagged in the middle, then collapsed into itself with the walls on either end the last to go, falling in toward the center on top of everything else. The demolition crews say it’ll take about 6 weeks to clear the debris, then there’ll be a bare, vacant lot at Pennsylvania Avenue and 8th Street.
