UPDATE 5:52 p.m. : Bill Nguyen has been charged with aggravated assault and murder.
GRAND PRAIRIE (WBAP/KLIF News) – Grand Prairie police are investigating what led up to a bizarre string of violent events Friday morning that left one person dead, a nail salon employee injured and a man behind bars.
Investigators said officers responded to a call at 10:20 a.m. from a nail salon on Magna Carta Boulevard just north of Camp Wisdom Road.
Witnesses told officers that the suspect, identified as 47-year-old Bill Son Nguyen, ran inside with a gun and allegedly hit a an employee with it before attempting to set the salon on fire.
A Good Samaritan with a concealed handgun license intervened and managed to hold Nguyen at gunpoint until police arrived.
That wasn’t the end of the unusual drama.
While the initial incident at was underway, the Grand Prairie Fire Department was putting out a fire at a home in the 2900 block of Hastings Drive, just a few blocks away from the salon.
Crews found one person dead inside the home and fire officials determined the home is connected to Nguyen.
Investigators said there are no other suspects involved in the case that the community is not in any danger.
