Gas Prices on the Rise Heading Into Spring Break

DALLAS  (WBAP/KLIF News) – Spring Breakers are gearing up for higher gas prices and increased patrols on state roads and highways.

Thousands of North Texans will hit the road this weekend and into next week for the annual holiday.

Triple A Texas’ Daniel Armbruster said gas prices in DFW have gone up 5 cents a gallon this week and expects the trend to continue.

“Here in the next few weeks most market analysts anticipate that we will start to see gas prices going up even more,” he said.

Resident who live in Dallas or Fort Worth may notice a slight increase at the pumps.

“Both cities are sitting at $2.28 on average for a gallon of regular unleaded,” he said.

State troopers will also be out looking for drunk drivers and those who are speeding during the holiday break.

It’s part of the Texas Department of Transportation’s “Plan While You Can” campaign leading up to Spring Break, in which law enforcement officers across Texas will increase DWI patrols to identify and stop impaired drivers.

The campaign’s goal is to decrease crashes and save lives by urging drivers to plan a sober ride as part of their Spring Break festivities.

The increased enforcement runs through March 19, 2018.
