Cornyn Calls Democratic Turn Out ‘Wake Up Call’

(WBAP/KLIF) – Some Republicans are calling the Democratic turnout in this week’s primaries a wake up call.

Those words were used by Senator John Cornyn who says it got his attention.

“If Republicans become complacent and don’t turn out our voters then November could be a real shocker,” Cornyn said on a conference call with reporters Wednesday.

Cornyn discussed the turnout numbers with fellow republicans Governor Greg Abbott and Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick.

“If Texas were to turn blue, I can’t imagine we would elect another Republican president in my lifetime,” Cornyn said.

The democratic turnout in Tuesday’s primary was the highest it has been since 1994.
