DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) — Members of a Dallas City Council Committee are talking about adding a small fare to Dallas’ Streetcar Line.
Monday, the Mobility Solutions Infrastructure and Sustainability Committee discussed adding a $1 charge to the line.
That route runs from Union Station to the Bishop Arts District, and has been free for riders since it opened in 2015.
Now, some City Council members say it isn’t fair for riders on other mass transit options to have to pay while streetcars remain free of charge.
One proposal is to charge riders a $1 fee for the service. Council members say the fee could take effect late this year or early 2019.
