Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – A Haltom City man will spend the next 25 years in prison for running Ponzi schemes in Tarrant County. Ronald Dunn admitted bilking more than $650,000 dollars from at least 13 victims while he was an agent with Prudential Financial. Prudential Financial was not part of his scheme, and was not involved in it in any way. Even so the company is offering restitution to many of Dunn’s victims. Dunn is 67 years old, and has no prior criminal record. If he has to serve all 25 years, he’ll be 92 when he gets out of prison.
Ironically Dunn rejected a plea bargain agreement last year that would have sentenced him to less than half the time he will now have to serve. He was offered ten years last September if he pleaded guilty, and saved the county the cost of his trial. He turned that down, but eventually did plead guilty December 11, and wound up with the much harsher sentence.
