PLANO (WBAP/KLIF) – Residents of Plano and twelve other North Texas cities may notice a slight change in the smell and taste of their tap water. Beginning February 26, the North Texas Municipal Water District will perform its annual 28-day chlorine maintenance program in member cities, which will enhance the quality of drinking water, and reduce the amount of hydrant flushing during warm weather months, according to the city of Plano. Plano city officials say tap water will remain safe for use and consumption.

Other North Texas cities participating in this process are members of the North Texas Municipal Water District, and include:

  • Allen
  • Farmersville
  • Forney
  • Frisco
  • Garland
  • Mesquite
  • McKinney
  • Princeton
  • Richardson
  • Rockwall
  • Royse City
  • Wylie
