Dallas, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – Just last week Dallas Police Association President Mike Mata said he had “no doubt” that Police Chief Renee Hall would pass the mandatory state certification exam.
Mata telling our newsroom:
“We always want to be lead by a leader that looks like us, and when I say ‘looks like us’ I mean that they wear the same uniform as us.”
Hall could not don the official DPD uniform until she passed the exam, and had been conducting police business in regular street clothes since taking over the force in September.
“There are a lot of hard decisions that are going have to be made in this department and it’s alot easier coming from a leader that looks like you and is one of you rather that someone that resembles a politician,” said Mata.
Fast-forward to Thursday afternoon when Chief Hall tweeted an image of herself in uniform, with the caption, “TCOLE Test done! Passed! Ready to get back to work!

Hall had taken some time off to focus on studying for the exam.
She’ll be officially sworn in at a later date.
