Keller, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – Keller Police say they’re increasing their police presence at schools today in response to yesterday’s school shooting in Parkland, Florida. The city ranked just one city behind Parkland in a recent survey of the country’s safest cities, coming in at 16th overall.
Police Chief Michael Wilson says anything can happen anywhere.
“What that shows is when we have tragedies like what we saw and what we’ve seen in every mass shooting is really no community is immune to those acts.”
He says they hope to never have to respond to that call, but will be ready if the need arises.
A former student who had been expelled from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland randomly opened fire there Wednesday, killing 17 people. Nikolas Cruz faces multiplel charges.
So far, haven’t seen any “extra” police officers at Keller High School. One student spoke to us and said yesterday doesn’t really scare him — said he’s just going to show up, do his work, and get out. @WBAP247NEWS @570KLIF pic.twitter.com/RR1Pwx4Qxa
