NYPD Officers Receive Fewer “Get Out of Jail Free” Cards From Union

NEW YORK (KLIF/WBAP) — New York City police officers are up in arms over a plan to reduce the number of so-called “get out of jail free” cards they get to give to friends and family.

The police union recently decided to reduce the number of cards to 20 from 30. Union leaders say they made the decision after they found several up for auction on Ebay.

The cards, which are also given to retirees, can be used for minor infractions, such as getting out of parking tickets and the like.

But we wondered: if NYPD has “Get Out of Jail Free” Cards… do any other departments?

We sent Producer Robyn Geske to find out.
