(WBAP/KLIF) – The U.S. Border Patrol said in a press release this week that a truck driver is in custody after he was found to be transporting 76 illegal immigrants near the Texas-Mexico border.
The illegal immigrants were discovered Friday at a checkpoint about 35 miles north of the border near Laredo. Authorities said that the truck driver, who is a U.S. citizen, was questioned about his immigration status before authorities looked in the back of the big rig. The illegal immigrants are from Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala. Thirteen were unaccompanied minors.
The driver’s identity and other details about the case are being withheld.
