Woman Accused of Being The Dallas “Porch Pirate” Turned Herself in to Police

DALLAS  (WBAP/KLIF News) – The woman dubbed the “Porch Pirate” has turned herself in.

Authorities said 33-year-old Kelli Renee Russell will be charged with felony theft for allegedly stealing packages from doorsteps in the Lakewood area of Dallas.

Cheryl Hudson lives in Lakewood and said she knows several people whose packages were stolen.

“My neighbor had problems with this situation too. I am just grateful and hopeful this will come to an end,” she said.

Russell was arrested earlier this month for traffic violations but police needed more evidence to charge her with the suspected theft.

Dallas Police said after executing a search warrant, detectives found a large amount of stolen packages.

Hudson said she believes the crimes spree was senseless.

“It could be desperation. It could be thrill seeking. I don’t know…ya know,” she said.

Russell is charged with a count of Theft $2500 which carries a maximum punishment of 2 years in the state jail and a fine of up to $10,000.

She was held on a $50,000 bond and ordered to wear an electronic monitoring device.
