ITALY,Texas (WBAP/KLIF) – Family and friends of the victim of a shooting at Italy High School in Ellis County said she’s in “good spirits” despite a long-road to recovery.

According to a GoFundMe account set up for 15-year-old Noelle “Cricket” Jones, she sustained serious injuries including a bullet lodged in her neck, another removed from her abdomen and her small intestine had to be removed as well.

The statement on the page is asking the community to help raise $150,000 to pay for a lengthy hospital stay with multiple surgeries and physical rehabilitation.

“This is every parent’s worst nightmare, and we feel the Jones’ family should not have to worry about the financial burden of this horrendous situation, especially since they are self employed small business owners,” said the statement.

Jones was in her high school cafeteria Monday morning when a 16-year-old gunman, who reportedly had feelings for her that were not reciprocated, shot her multiple times.

The boy, whose identity has not been released, is in custody and is facing serious charges.

Authorities have not revealed a motive for the shootings.
