Prosecution Rests in Zoe Hastings Capital Murder Trial

DALLAS, TX (WBAP/KLIF News) – The prosecution has rested in the capital murder trial of Antonio Cochran, the man accused of kidnapping and killing 18 year old Zoe Hastings in October of 2015.

Investigators say Hastings was taken from an East Dallas Walgreen’s parking lot while she was trying to return a Redbox movie on her way to church. Her body was found the next day in a creek bed next to her minivan. The Medical Examiner determined the girl had been stabbed multiple times, but didn’t die immediately from her wounds. Cochran was arrested two weeks later.

Prosecutors say DNA evidence on the murder weapon, a knife, and cell phone records tie Cochran to the crime. If convicted he’ll receive an automatic life sentence without the possibility of parole. The Dallas County District Attorney’s office earlier had said they would not seek the death penalty after through an evaluation, it was determined the 36 year old Cochran had an intellectual disability.
