Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas Police Department will soon roll out a new layer of surveillance for area businesses.
Project Green Light will allow area businesses to partner with the DPD to install cameras that link with its Fusion Center; they’ll allow for real time monitoring of potential criminal activity.
The program has proven successful in Detroit, where Dallas Police Renee Hall formerly served as assistant chief.
The ventures comes with a price tag of $2100 for businesses.
A pilot program could roll out next month.
According to the DPD website, the department’s Fusion Center exchanges and disseminates information and intelligence data related to criminal activity, criminal enterprises and suspected terrorist activity within the Dallas Police Department’s area of operations. The Fusion Center works with other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to maintain an atmosphere of cooperation and collaboration in combating criminal activity. In addition, the Fusion Center provides real time tactical intelligence to officers in the field responding to emergency calls
