DALLAS (KLIF/WBAP) — The struggle to be perfect may be adversly affecting college students, and social media is partially to blame.
Those are the findings of a new study from the UK.
Researchers looked at more than 40,000 students from the United States, Canada and Great Britain. They found that since 1989, socially prescribed perfectionism, or the perception that there are unrealistically high expectations from others, increased by 33 percent.
Analysts say social media is only partially to blame for this. They say parents’ expectations, and a fear of failure probably contribute to the findings.
So, how do you keep perfectionism from becoming a problem in your own life? Dave talked with Clinical Psychologist Dr. John Huber with Mainstream Mental Health to find out.
