Fort Worth, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – A fired Fort Worth police officer is fighting to get his job back after being terminated for “multiple violations” of police procedure during a domestic call in August.
Sgt. Kenneth Pierce ordered a rookie officer to tase the woman who called for help, after she refused to turn over her ID.
The president of the Fort Worth Police Officer’s Association played the initial 9-1-1 call for reporters, in which the woman admitted to having a knife, which whe turned over when police arrived.
Sgt. Rick Van Houton said, “Just because one weapon was taken away, you have to assume that there’s another weapon.” Van Houton accuses Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald of “playing politics.”
“Police Chief Fitzgerald and the chain of command got this one wrong,” Van Houton said.
