Arlington PD Selected for Additional Officers

ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF) – United States Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the Arlington Police Department would be a recipient of grant funding through the Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services Hiring Program.

Arlington was one of 179 law enforcement agencies across the nation selected to hire additional community policing officers. The department said it plans to use the funding to add an additional 15 sworn positions throughout the organization to bolster detective ranks that deal with violent crime through proactive community engagement and partnerships.

“The COPS Office has been a great partner in helping us advance community policing,” said Police Chief Will Johnson. “This reinforces our commitment to combating violent crime, known offenders, and drugs in 2018.”

The department said it is gearing up for additional police academies in February and July of 2018.
