Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) DART is adding even more armed guards to its bus and rail network. The agency’s board of directors authorized $1.7 Million dollars to pay for an additional 30 armed guards. The goal is to provide 100% coverage on all dart trains and buses by the Spring of 2018. Meantime, work continues to install 163 security cameras on trains. While overall crime on DART is down, a recent rash of attacks at DART stations and on trains has riders calling for increased security. DART recently unveiled a customer security APP for smartphones called “DART SAY SOMETHING”. It’s free and available at the Apple App store and on Google Play. So far it’s been downloaded more than 3700 times.
