SOUTHLAKE (WBAP/KLIF News) – A man who served as a volunteer member of the Southlake Parks and Recreation Board was arrested on a charge of continuously sexually assaulting a child under 14 Monday morning.
The Southlake Police Department’s Assistant Police Chief Ashleigh Douglas said investigators learned about the allegations against 41-year-old Miguel Salinas after the victim told someone about the alleged abuse and that person called the authorities.
She said before, that Salinas was not on law enforcement’s radar.
“Prior to receiving the report that led to this investigation and arrest, the City of Southlake, and its law enforcement authorities, had received no information or reports of misconduct involving Mr. Salinas,” said Douglas.
She said investigators are looking into the possibility that there could be more victims.
“At this point, we know of one victim. Obviously the investigation is ongoing and that is what we will try to determine,” said Douglas.
Salinas had been volunteering with the board since 2015.
The Mayor and City Council have been notified about Salinas’ arrest and, in light of the charge, will review his status as a volunteer.
