North Texas man sentenced for illegally making and selling assault rifles

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – Former Flower Mound resident Gary Busby has been sentenced to 6 1/2 years in federal prison for illegally manufacturing and selling more than 800 AR-15 and AK-74 assault rifles. The 65 year old Busby never had a federal firearms license, but assembled the weapons and sold them anyway. Continuing to do so even after he knew many of them had been purchased and were being used by drug cartels in Mexico. At his trial Busby’s attorney described him as a hobbyist and gun collector who ran a legal business selling a few gun parts.
