Elderly Fort Worth Woman Sues Uber After She was Sexually Assaulted by a Dallas Driver

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – A 77-year-old woman has filed a lawsuit against Uber after she was sexually assaulted by a Dallas driver back in October.

Quentin Brogdon, the attorney for the woman known only as ‘Jane Doe’ said during the ride, which occurred on October 22nd, the driver Hashem Ramenzanpour stopped in a wooded area where things took a violent turn.

“We know that this man instead of driving her home took her to a secluded area and violently beat her and raped her. She certainly didn’t sign up for that,” he said.

Ramenzanpour is not a stranger to police. Brogden said he’s also facing charges of violently assaulting a teenager.

“When Uber paired a 77-year-old helpless, unsuspecting woman with this driver, it was like locking her into a cage with a hungry tiger. It was not a matter of whether he was going to strike. It was a matter of when,” he said.

Brogden said the woman’s son called the Uber to take his mother home after she had visited a friend. It’s a terrifying scenario he said his client emotionally relieves daily.

“She’s still is tearful every day and she can’t talk about this without breaking down into tears. It’s been incredibly traumatic as you can imagine,” he said.

Fort Worth police are still searching for Ramenzanour, who they believe may have fled the country.

The lawsuit slams the safety practices of Uber and other ride-sharing apps.

Uber has not yet responded to the lawsuit.
