DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – DART is asking the public to help give North Texans in need a nice Christmas this year.
As part of the agency’s annual “Stuff a Bus” drive, DART set up a 40-foot bus Friday afternoon at the Mockingbird Station that will be filled with donated clothing, canned goods and toys to be given to families over the holidays.
DART’s Morgan Lyon’s said a simple act of kindness has a big impact on people who are struggling.
“It’s about being able to provide a new blanket to someone in a nursing home or to make sure that a family has a meal during the holidays that they’re able to sit around and enjoy and make sure some kids have some toys,” he said.
Lyons said because DART covers about 700 square miles, the agencies employees and its officers see the struggles that some North Texans experience first hand.

He said these items that most people take for granted are a big deal to the less fortunate.
“In very simple ways by getting a blanket or some socks, clean underway, a few cans of food…you can help make someone’s day better and, in particular, make their holidays better,” he said.
Donations can be dropped off until 5 p.m. on Friday.
DART’s “Santa Cops” will distribute the donated items to families over the next few weeks.
The “Stuff a Bus” drive also helps provide clothing for the agency’s “Comforting of the Souls” program which provides clothing for residents of local nursing homes.
