State Senator Encourages Vote to Abolish Dallas County Schools

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The future of a Dallas County transportation service is in the hands of the voters with the start of early voting in the November elections.

Dallas County schools provides bus service to school districts in Dallas County. State Senator Don Huffines passed legislation to allow for a vote to abolish the organization.

“This is a dangerous, unreliable, and financially corrupt government bureaucracy,” said Senator Huffines. “And we’re going to shut them down.”

Huffines says Dallas County Schools has financial problems and behavioral issues with its drivers.

“45% of the schools in Dallas County don’t use D.C.S. for transportation, but they pay the tax,” Huffines said.

Huffines and the Political Action Committee, ‘Protect Dallas Kids’ are encouraging citizens to vote against the continuation of Dallas County Schools, which essentially would abolish it.

“The ballot is worded whether you are for or against all of the items on the ballot,” said Huffines. “This is against. So its the last item to vote against. They are ripping taxpayers off.”
If the voters do away with the services, each school district will decide how to bus its students.
