DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — A new study published in the Business Insider went viral and was met by Texans with skepticism and outrage:
In-N-Out is more popular in Texas than Whataburger.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram has labeled the story “fake news”. Though most Texans would agree with that assessment the Business Insider nationwide survey, conducted in conjunction with Foursquare, is real.
Foursquare is a smartphone and tablet application that tracks its members and allows them to “check in” with their locations. The fast food study determined the most popular chain in each state by analyzing total visits to each restaurant and dividing by the number of locations in that state.
There are 669 locations of Whataburger in Texas and only 35 locations of In-N-Out.
