Carrollton (WBAP/KLIF) – Carrollton Police say they have cracked a theft ring that used electronic skimmers to steal credit card information at gas pumps in Dallas, Irving, Tyler and other cities.
They have arrested 33 year old Yoandi Valdez, and say they have warrants for five others.
The thieves reportedly used the stolen credit card information to fraudulently buy diesel fuel, pumping it into high capacity tanks hidden in the beds of pickup trucks.
The skimmers they used were permanently installed in the pumps at unwitting service stations, and accessed electronically so once they were in place the thieves never had to actually touch the pumps again.
Valdez remains in the Dallas County Jail. the search continues for the other five.
