Crews Demolish the House Where Shavon Randle’s Body was Found

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The south Dallas house where the body of a kidnapped Lancaster teen was found over the Summer is gone.

Demolition crews raised the house at 2208 East Kiest Boulevard early Thursday morning.

Cynthia King is 13-year-old Shavon Randle’s great aunt and said she wanted the house gone so the family and her niece’s spirit can move on.

“I feel she’s in bondage and once we bulldoze this house down…it’s going to be beautiful. The spirit is going to be lifted. The horns are going to be playing,” she said.

After Shavon’s body was found, the community set up a makeshift memorial on the property.

King said the house needed to go because all it did was remind them of the tragedy.

“When I drive by on a daily basis, I still have to get out of the car, come take pictures, walk around and try to figure out what happened. Once this house is gone, I no longer have to do that I can continue to go on with the next level of my grieving process,” she said.

The teen’s death was felt by many in the community, including local leaders.

Mayor Pro Tem Dewayne Caraway spoke to the family and residents just before demolition crews tore down the house.

“We’re here where a tragedy took place. It was a sad day but we’re going to take this sad day into a great day,”

The City of Dallas plans on planting a tree and a erecting a memorial at the site in her honor.

Three people have been indicted on kidnapping charges related to Shavon’s case. Investigators said she was kidnapped over a drug deal gone bad.

Shavon’s body was found in the abandoned house along with another shooting victim, Michael Titus. No one has been charged yet with her murder.
