Richardson (WBAP/KLIF) – The Richardson Police Department says the Matthews family car was gone for at least an hour in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 7, at almost the same time her father says 3 year old Sherin Matthews disappeared. Wesley Matthews told police he put the child outside next to a tree at 3:00 AM to punish her for not drinking her milk. He says Sherin was gone when he went to check on her 15 minutes later. However no one reported her missing for another five hours. He has said he had laundry to do during that time. Richardson detectives say they now know the Mathews family’s 2013 maroon Acura MDX – SUV was gone from the home at almost the same time. It came back about an hour later. They are asking anyone in the area who may have surveillance video covering that early morning time frame to give them a call.
Meanwhile, a loose coalition of Richardson residents is planning a prayer vigil at the Matthews’ family home this (Friday) evening. They plan to gather silently in front of the house at 7:00 PM.
