Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – It’s being called the world’s smallest pacemaker and it’s now available at Medical City Dallas.

According to a news release, the Micra pacemaker is the size of a large vitamin and unlike traditional pacemakers, it doesn’t require any wires or a surgical pocket under the skin.

The device is specifically designed to treat those with bradycardia, a condition that causes a slow or irregular heart rhythm.

Dr. Michael Isaac performed the first procedure using the device at Medical City Dallas.  He says it’s more comfortable for patients and does not affect their outward appearance.
