Father of Las Vegas Gunman was on FBI Most Wanted List

MESQUITE, NV (AP) – The father of the Las Vegas Shooter, 64-year old Stephen Paddock, was once on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list.

According to the Tuscon Daily Citizen, Benjamin Paddock was a fugitive beginning in 1968 after escaping a federal prison in La Tuna, Texas near El Paso. He was serving a 20-year sentence for the 1960 robbery of Valley National Bank in Phoenix, Arizona.

Paddocks wanted poster described him to be very dangerous and have suicidal tendencies, citing that he was diagnosed as psychopathic.

Following his escape, he made his way to Oregon where he operated a bingo hall for nearly ten years under the name Bruce Werner Ericksen. There, he received multiple traffic citations without authorities discovering his true identity.

Eric Paddock, brother of Stephen, was born while their father was on the run and said his father was estranged from the family his entire life.

He died in 1998.
