WASHINGTON (WBAP/KLIF News) – A group of Congressional Democrats want to extend the deadline for Dreamers to apply for a DACA extension as a result of the recent hurricanes that hit Texas and Florida.
Almost three dozen signed the letter, which was sent Acting Homeland Security Secretary Elaine Duke.
It stated that there are 121,000 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival recipients in Texas and 33,000 in Florida.
President Trump plans to phase out DACA and has placed a deadline to apply for an extension October 5th.
The letter asks for a nationwide extension.
They say DACA recipients need more time to collect the application fee of $495 and get their documents in order.
